Prior to 2014 The FDA of the United States considered hemp oil (and its derivative CBD) to be a dietary supplement (not a medication), since they are made from industrial hemp plants. In 2014 GW Pharma started NDA (New Drug Application) trails on epidoilex as a treatment for epilepsy. It is now the FDA's opinion that CBD can no longer be sold as a food item or dietary supplement due to not being marketed as one prior to 2014 trials. We disagree with this opinion and feel that there is plenty of proof that Hemp products containing naturally occurring cannabinoids have been marketed as food and dietary supplements since the late 90s.

Does THC need to be present with CBD in order for it to be helpful ?

There are countless studies underway to determine the extent to which this is the case as it relates to certain conditions. CBD by itself has shown many health benefits, and there is science to prove it. Although there is evidence that the Entourage Effect is due to the synergistic effect between CBD and THC in a compound, there seems to be Anectotal evidence to suggest that CBD on its own has many positive effects. Read this article for more information about this interesting phenomenon. And make CBD part of your daily intake, this article explains why

Can CBD Oil Make you High ?

Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a high. While this makes CBD a poor choice for recreational users, it gives the chemical a significant advantage. CBD is non-psychoactive because it does not act on the same pathways as THC.

What is Hemp’s Current Status in the United States?

After a century of prohibition, hemp is once again taking root in American soil. With the passing of the 2014 federal farm bill (section 7606), farmers in states with industrial hemp legislation are allowed to grow and harvest hemp in conjunction with their state departments of agriculture for research through pilot programs. Does it matter if CBD is extracted from cannabis or industrial hemp?

First of all Hemp is Cannabis. Marijuana and Hemp are both of the Cannabis Sativa L genus.

The Federal Government defines Industrial Hemp as : "the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis."

With that said there are many different types of industrial hemp but we can break them down into two major categories.

You have feral hemp, which is hemp as most of us know, tall lanky seeded varieties that have been bred for fiber and seed production.

You now also have Medicinal Hemp. Medicinal hemp is essentially for all intents and purposes, strains that have been bred to have low THC and high CBD or other cannabinoids that have high medical properties.

Feral hemp is a poor choice for CBD extraction due to it having a very low percentage of CBD .

You must use more plant material and this also increases the potential for higher levels of contaminants in your extract. Hemp absorbs contaminants from the earth and in other parts of the world is used to clean contaminants from the soil.

Medicinal Hemp requires less material as it is usually around 15-18% CBD by weight. Imported products that claim to be from stalk and seed are typically from Feral Hemp and tend to have higher levels of contaminants.

Will full spectrum cannabidiol hemp products get me "high"?

The simple answer is No. All Green Lotus Hemp Hemp products contain a full spectrum of over 100 of the currently known cannabinoids with the exception of THC, which makes it legal under Section 7606 of the 2014 Farm Bill. The Cannabidiol present in hemp actually counters the psychoactive effects of THC.

Will I fail a drug test if I supplement with CBD ?

Drug tests that are geared toward identifying THC, not CBD or any another cannabinoid, will test negative. There are some field test that test for cannabinoids as a possible indication of marijuana use. If you are taking our products and test positive for Marijuana on a field test you must demand the test be sent off to the lab for further testing. We have had customers go through this and the secondary labs came back negative for THC. It is very important to understand this.

Yes it is excluded from the controlled substance act per the agricultural act of 2014 sec 7606 so long as it is grown in compliance with sec 7606.
