Kristen Stewart 300

"Kristen Stewart Hearts Marijuana"

Despite her role in the Twilight movies (based on some of the most teen-angsty novels of the past decade), Kristen Stewart has begun to come into her own as a Hollywood fixture, letting her inner self shine through in more complicated and human roles like Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Personal Shopper, Café Society, and last summer’s cannabis-inclusive comedy American Ultra. Okay, okay, that last role wasn’t really complicated at all. Stewart has never hidden her cannabis consumption, and really there’s no point once a photographer plasters your picture all over social media smoking a pipe with your boyfriend, now is there? Well, it’s her prerogative, and with recreational use in California looming on the cannabis horizon, why not?

Kristen Stewart’s Thoughts on Marijuana

In this summer’s New York Times interview, the once highest-paid actor in the Hollywood film industry confides in Nicholas Haramis that she doesn’t want to hide her life from the public – which is good, because I’m not sure that she can, at this point. Kristen has been quoted in Vanity Fair as saying she is a “weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot,” and is regularly seen about the world in cannabis clothing from marijuana socks to the bikini she rocks on a boat in this photograph.

California Marijuana Laws

Legal medical marijuana has been the rule in California since 1996, and the state just passed a bill making recreational marijuana legal in November – the laws have yet to go into effect as the state attempts to integrate the medical side with the recreational side in an acceptable manner for patients, consumers, state government, and marijuana producers and retail stores in the Golden State. The state expects to have regulations in place and make recreational cannabis available to the general adult public as soon as 2018.

Celebrities & Musicians Who Love Marijuana

Besides the lovely Kristen Stewart, celebrities are coming out all over California in support of cannabis, cannabis products, or cannabis investments – most notably Snoop Dogg, who has a new TV series with Martha Stewart, his own line of marijuana products called Leafs by Snoop, and has built his fortune and his reputation as a connoisseur of cannabis through music and movies. Rihanna has shown her love of cannabis through cannabis clothing as well, as well as making no secret of her personal consumption and belief in legal cannabis. Miley – well, Miley just can’t get enough of marijuana sundries; she even brought a joint with her onstage at the MTV music awards a few years back.

Willie Nelson has his own line of marijuana, now, as does Tommy Chong, Stephen Marley, Wiz Khalifa, and Woody Harrelson. Melissa Etheridge has come out in support of marijuana, as have Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Richard Branson of the lucrative Virgin Group, Roseanne Barr, Cliff Robinson, Morgan Freeman, Bill Gates, Bill Maher, David Letterman, David Duchovny, Susan Sarandon, the Dali Lama, and the ubiquitous world traveler, Rick Steves. Marijuana is taking its natural spot in the lives of many people, whether they are celebrities or not, and it’s about time.
